The Empire Living Centre started life in 1927 as the
Empire Hotel. Built as one of the most luxurious hotels
of Ontario's near north region. The hotel hosted the Queen
on her visit to Canada in 1951. Due to its elaborate architectural
features the hotel has attracted the movie industry and
has been featured in several notable movies including,
Captain of the Clouds, a war epic, starring James Cagney
in 1941.
The
former hotel was completely renovated in 1997-2004 bringing
the building back to its initial splendour. The home
now boasts 98 luxury Retirement Suites. With ballrooms,
dining rooms and lounges that rival the finest hotels
in the country, the facility exudes an ambiance that
cannot be duplicated.
No aspect of the renovation has been overlooked as we have created exterior gardens
that are not at all expected, in a downtown location.
Volunteers and the homes residents were put in charge of the flower gardens and
seasonal decorating of the facility. In doing so they became an active participant
in their home's decor and have done so with such great enthusiasm, we have one
of the finest gardens in the area.
The Empire Living Centre is a one of a kind facility. We are proud of the caring
staff and ask that you speak directly to our best salespeople, our residents,
if you have any questions about their integrity and devotion.
